Meet the artist for September- Aviva Pilgrim.

Aviva Pilgrim lives in the Ozark mountains near Fayetteville, Arkansas, and is inspired by rural American folk arts of the early 20th century.  She is a block print artist, guitar maker, gardener, and also plays guitar and sings with the old-time string band "The Ozark Highballers."  Her work reflects an appreciation of the simple and the traditional while also exercising the freedom of individual creation and the beauty of imperfection.

You can find her block prints and guitars at www.preservationguitar.com.

Aviva's bandana design was inspired by the classic nursery rhyme "Sing A Song of Sixpence." As a lover of pies, baking, birds, and berries the imagery fell into place naturally. The pie lattice was stenciled, overlayed with lino-cut blocks, and then hand painted.
